George Barack Otieno
George Otieno is a veterinary surgeon as well as a food security and livelihoods expert. He has worked with several international non-government organizations in food security program implementation as well as in the field of emergency, post-war/recovery and development interventions.
He is currently the in country coordinator for the Borlaug Higher Education for Agricultural Research and Development (BHEARD) Project in Kenya, assisting students attending Egerton University and the University of Nairobi. He provides orientation to the BHEARD scholars on USAID requirements, the Kenyan higher education system and also acts as general liason between the BHEARD scholars, the Kenyan universities and BHEARD Management. Mr. Otieno also provides assistance to the scholars with housing, transportation and banking matters, and provides monthly financial reports to the BHEARD management team.
Mr. Otieno earned a bachelor of veterinary medicine degree from the University of Nairobi and a master’s degree in agriculture and rural development from Kenya Methodist University.
